FLOAT CAST

Meet our main characters: Float, Wukung, Bajie, Samonk, Pat, Rudra, and Nineyes.

Float

Float is our main character, the current-day reincarnation of a prestigious Buddhist abbot of ancient China whose hard fall into adultery caused the Sakyamuni Buddha to banish him to suffer the eternal cycles of reincarnation. For eternity, Float must live and die and live again, repeating life's cycle of danger, frustration, hardship, and death. In our episodes, Float appears equally in the current day, in the distant future, or in the historic past. Float gets into predicaments for he is an idealist whose unfulfilled desires lead him into trouble. Will Float learn to control desires and profit from mistakes? We shall see him in action through time and space, often in the company of his three disciples who are mythical beings appearing in the real world. Are they real or simply reflections of Float's own psyche?

Float

Wukung

The mythical creature Wukung is the oldest of Float's followers. Wukung is our action hero; a cocky, street-smart simian with the acrobatic moves of a commando. Except for his sly simian face, you'd think he was a wiry, quick-footed street punk or pool hall hustler with his Jazzy looking Somalian cap, rolled up jacket, and easy fitting trousers. Wukung is mentally quick and physically strong, a perfect assistant to the indecisive Float. But Wukung's loyalty to an undeserving master is perhaps the monkey's greatest weakness. A weakness that will be exploited in our episodes.

Wukung

Bajie

Bajie, the gruff fat hog, is the second mythical creature. But being a swine only inspires Bajie to be fashionable, or at least fashionable in bad taste. He is a typical fancy soul trapped in a less-than-glamorous pig body. Bajie could be taken for a double-sized Vegas Elvis with his pompadour, sideburns, and aviator shades. Like a Russian mafioso, Bajie squeezes his corpulent girth into elegant but sleazy sharkskin suits and ostrich leather boots, sartorial splendor on the verge of explosion. Bajie is smart, greedy, over-sexed, and shameless; the classic traits of the double-dealing opportunist who's armed to the tusk with automatic weapons and short-barreled rocket launchers. The sweaty pig is the go-between for Float and Wukung. While Float is indecisive, Bajie is scheming; while Wukung is blindly loyal to Float, Bajie calculates his friendship.

Bajie

Samonk

The hulking Samonk, the third mythical being, backs up the trio. The grim, unsmiling giant with the multiple top-knots on his rock-like cranium, looks like a malevolent genie who can only grant one wish, a speedy death. Samonk is our techno character armed with futuristic assault rifle and old-fashioned scimitar, this cybertronic killing machine is single-minded and animalistic; a Terminator for the dark ages. On the bright side, his simple approach to violence provides the graphic intensity to our stories.

Samonk

Pat

Pat Murdy, the antithesis of the above mentioned brood. She is tall, blonde, and fair-skinned. Pat is a typical sleazy tabloid reporter, but her youth and beauty makes her an interesting female companion for Float. Pat also symbolizes change as her character evolves from sleazy opportunist to a kind of reformed Tibetan Buddhist. Evidently, she can enlighten herself through Float's flawed character. Perhaps there is some good after all in the disgraced abbot's eternal damnation.

Pat

Rudra

Float and his band of mutants are lured to Xianbala, a mystical 'lost city' in the Himalayas threatened by outside conquerors. Rudra, Xianbala's ruler, has created an "invisible quantum umbrella" which makes the city invisible. Rudra is young and handsome, with an "aurora" all find irresistible, for he is considered a good and benign ruler. Or is there more to him than that, something vaguely unsettling? For one thing, we will discover Rudra is the reincarnation of Float's once sworn brother, a king during Float's original life.

Pat

Nineyes

Nineyes, Rudra's twin sister, is sixteenish and unearthly beautiful. Through her, Rudra lures Float and his disciples to his threatened kingdom of Xianbala. To Float, Nineyes "looks so beautiful that he couldn't help breaking into tears." Float discovers she was the baby girl he baptized as a priest back in 627 A.D. and later she was the Prime Minister's wife with whom he commits adultery, and since then she returns time and again as the reincarnated image of his fatal and unrequited love.
As her name suggests, she has a total of nine eyes, two in the normal place, one between the brows, two on the soles of her feet, two in the palms of her hands, the eighth and ninth ones are currently unknown since they have yet to open.
